Regis Small Discipleship Groups
Small Discipleship Groups (Ut Fidem)
GO THEREFORE AND MAKE DISCIPLES.
Mission
Ut Fidem, from a longer Latin phrase meaning “Keep the Faith,” aims to develop high school students into intentional disciples who will keep the faith for the rest of their lives, especially through college.
Method
Our small discipleship groups help students form deep, personal relationships with Jesus Christ through bi-weekly small groups of 5-6 students who are actively discipled by an adult faith mentor. Groups cultivate their devotion to personal prayer, the Sacramental life, understanding of Church teachings, and enter into the lifestyle of a passionate Catholic. By forming virtuous relationships with one another, groups develop deep relationships with Jesus Christ. No longer are students alone in the journey, but they are walking shoulder to shoulder together in learning more about their Catholic faith.
A Proven Solution
At Regis High School, our Ut Fidem small discipleship groups have grown to involve 30 Mentors and over 100 students.
Tell Me More…
5-6 students in each group (same gender and grade).
2 Ut Fidem adult mentors.
VIRTUS certified with a background check.
Received Ut Fidem small group mentor training.
Equipped with “Forming Intentional Disciples,” by Sherry Weddell.
Groups meet for an hour twice a month.
Students discuss anything from apologetics to personal prayer to the life of the saints to any question on their hearts. Most groups use the YDisciple program by NET Ministries.
Each group meets during normal theology class time. In this way, everyone can find a time to prioritize their faith and participate in an Ut Fidem group.
Ut Fidem forms groups around friendships so that the same students who discuss their faith are also the ones who eat lunch with one another, play basketball, and participate in theater together. This is vital to avoid the compartmentalization of faith.
Advantages of Small Discipleship Groups…
Ut Fidem small discipleship groups can uniquely meet all 5 essential needs of a human person.
